Safety of Car Seats Studied: The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating claims that a child car seat made by Gerry Baby Products Co., a unit of Huffy Corp., may be defective. The agency said more than 5,000 people have complained that the Gerry Securelock Model 690 is difficult or impossible to close. Eleven children have been injured because the seat’s buckle opened during accidents, the NHTSA said.
