Nintendo Ordered to Pay Alpex Damage Award: In a blow to Nintendo Co., a federal judge in New York upheld a $208-million patent infringement award against it and ordered that Nintendo must also pay Alpex Computer Corp. a percentage of infringing revenues. U.S. District Judge Kimba Wood refused Nintendo’s motion for a new trial. Instead, she said, Nintendo must pay the damage award to Alpex, a defunct Colorado company, along with 6% of Nintendo’s infringing revenues during the period between Dec. 1, 1992, and May 31, 1994, and prejudgment interest. In June, a Manhattan federal jury found that Nintendo had copied Alpex technology in parts of its Nintendo Entertainment System.
