GARDEN GROVE : Vandalized House Gets Repair Help

Share

Police officers and Explorer Scouts on Tuesday will clean and repair an elderly woman’s house, which was vandalized by a local gang that includes her daughter, police said.

Police did not identify the woman, but said her 35-year-old daughter invited members of the 17th Street Gang to live in the house while her mother was vacationing in Northern California.

Police Capt. Dave Abrecht said the gang members destroyed the inside of the house and rendered it uninhabitable. The daughter, who has a criminal history, was arrested for outstanding warrants and is being held at County Jail, he said.

Abrecht said that the clean-up effort will demonstrate that “we will not tolerate the senseless, destructive and violent behavior . . . of gang members who have no regard for people and their property.”

Code enforcement officials and volunteers also will help clean the home on Havenwood Street.
