LOS ANGELES : CHP Warns of Telephone Scam Seeking Donations
The California Highway Patrol has announced that it does not ask for donations, after it was reported to the agency that people seeking money were representing themselves as from the CHP.
“Numerous persons recently have complained of suspicious persons seeking money, who have no connection with the California Highway Patrol,” Sgt. Ernie Garcia said.
“The Highway Patrol does not solicit contributions.”
He urged anyone who is contacted about giving money to the CHP to try to get detailed information about the caller, then contact the local Highway Patrol office.
