Toppled Toilet Draws Lawsuit: A woman who fell from a handicapped-accessible toilet at a McDonald’s outlet in New York state is suing the restaurant’s former owner for $600,000. Michelle Verdicchio and her husband, Louis, filed the suit this week in Saratoga County Court against Donald John Connelly, who owned the restaurant in Clifton Park, N.Y., about 15 miles north of Albany. According to the suit, Michelle Verdicchio was seated on the commode in June, 1993, when the toilet suddenly shifted and tipped to its side, causing her to lose her balance. Verdicchio, whose age was not disclosed, was thrown against the wall and suffered injuries to her right arm, shoulder, chest and breast, and she suffered emotional distress, the lawsuit said. It was not clear whether Verdicchio was using the stall because of a disability.
