WOMEN’S BASKETBALL : USC Rolls Over Houston, 87-72

HOUSTON — Tina Thompson scored 24 points and Rashida Jeffery added 18 points and 10 rebounds as No. 24 USC defeated Houston, 87-72, before 222 Friday night.
USC (4-1) jumped to a 19-5 lead and built a 42-26 advantage by halftime. The Trojans then held off Houston (3-2) as the Lady Cougars--who shot only 28% from the field in the first half--started making their shots.
Jerry Cooper led Houston with 29 points and 13 rebounds. Fleceia Comeaux added 12.
USC dominated Houston on the boards, outrebounding the Lady Cougars, 60-43. Six USC players had at least seven rebounds.
