Selective Giving

Share

I am writing in response to the recent story about those ignorant people who supposedly are good-hearted and want to help others less fortunate than themselves. These so-called “good” people will give, but only if their donations go to legal residents or English-speaking or those with non-Latino surnames. These people are not kind and good, they are bigots.

I would tell all these people to keep their donations and learn the true meaning of giving. True giving comes from the heart, not from politics and prejudice, and certainly not from ignorance.

I give because I consider myself very lucky and want to bring some little bit of happiness to someone not as lucky as myself. I don’t care what color they are, if they speak English or if they are here illegally. I feel sorry for you (who) do not know or have in your hearts the true spirit of giving or of the season.
