Wilma Barrows; Organist for Billy Graham

Wilma Irene (Billie) Barrows, 69, who filled in for an absent organist at a Billy Graham youth rally in Asheville, N.C., in 1945, four years before the evangelist became internationally famous and then became part of Graham’s first musical team. Mrs. Barrows, with baritone George Beverly Shea and her husband, Cliff, were the first three members of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Assn., and they remained with Graham for nearly 50 years. Graham remembered her as one of his closest friends, with her song-leading husband “an example for what a Christian family ought to be. . . .” In Greenville, S.C., on Thursday after a long battle with cancer.
