Jeffrey A. Rideout has been named medical director of group and network services for WellPoint Health Networks Inc., a managed health care company based in Woodland Hills that is a majority-owned subsidiary of Blue Cross of California.

Rideout’s responsibilities include the development and supervision of medical cost management activities, as well as support of sales and contracting efforts, in Northern California. He will also be responsible for WellPoint’s quality assurance programs. Rideout, 33, previously served as the Northern California medical director for FHP/Take Care, a health maintenance organization owned by Fountain Valley-based FHP International Corp.

WellPoint also announced that Lee A. Hartman, 45, has been named medical director of group and network services. In this capacity, Hartman will supervise the handling of complaints and inquiries from members. He will also be responsible for medical cost management and support of sales and contracting in Southern California.

Hartman previously operated a private practice in Laguna Hills, and is a former chief of staff at Saddleback Memorial Medical Center. He received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati.

* Ross K. Goldberg has been appointed to the newly created position of senior vice president of communications and marketing at CareAmerica Health Plans, a health maintenance organization based in Woodland Hills.

Goldberg, 41, previously served as vice president of corporate communications at UniHealth America, the Burbank-based parent of CareAmerica.

* Diane Auten has been promoted to vice president and controller at TransWorld Bank, a Sherman Oaks-based bank with 10 offices in the San Fernando, Santa Clarita and Conejo valleys. Previously, Auten was manager of the control note department at the bank.

Auten, 35, has been a TransWorld employee since 1980, when she was hired as a vault teller at the bank’s Canyon Country branch.
