MCA Music Entertainment Names Publishing President

MCA Music Entertainment Group announced that Jay Boberg is joining the company as President of MCA Music Publishing worldwide. Boberg, who was previously president of IRS Records, will be responsible for all aspects of MCA’s music publishing operations. He will be based in Los Angeles. As a record executive at IRS, his discoveries included the band R.E.M.

* Joachim Blunck has been named executive vice president of production at Twentieth Television.

* Universal Pictures has promoted Leonard Kornberg, Carr D’Angelo and Anne Milder to vice presidents of production.

* Curt Viebranz is the new president of Home Box Office International and executive vice president of HBO, responsible for HBO Enterprises.

* Gary Delfiner, head of acquisitions and development for Republic Entertainment, is forming Gemini Entertainment Inc., a production company with a first-look production-development deal with Republic Entertainment.

* Mike Sandoval has been named senior vice president of creative for MGM/UA Music.

* Saban Entertainment has appointed Kenneth H. Stokes group director of Consumer Products.

* Trevor Walton has joined Fox Broadcasting Co. as senior vice president of long-form programming.

* The new WB television network’s marketing and promotion department has hired veteran advertising and TV executives Lauren Brady, Kris Coontz, Tracy Cradit, Robert Nachman and Carmella Scoggins.

* Robert Wittenberg has been named senior vice president of sales for MGM/UA Home Entertainment. * Debra C. Mostow was named director of publishing for MCA Publishing Rights.

* Rhino Records promoted Shannon Williams to urban marketing/A&R; manager.

* Samuel Goldwyn Television named Philip L. Smith director of Southeast television sales.

* Hollywood Records appointed Diarmuid Quinn senior vice president of marketing.
