VETTING EDDIE

Regarding David Mennie’s letter about Eddie Vedder (Dec. 4):

For one, Pearl Jam is far from being overrated, and you would know that if you stopped listening to the media and actually listened to the group’s music.

You would realize that the lyrics come from deep down in Eddie’s soul. Give them a chance, and if you don’t like their music, don’t listen!

It’s simple. Pearl Jam is only five decent men trying to make an honest living, and they seem to be doing all right.

P.S. Queensryche went out with the Hula-Hoop. Pearl Jam rules Seattle now, and still will rule Seattle a long time from now.

I know the media talks way too much about Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam, especially because they don’t like all the publicity. But if there is anyone to be given credit to, it’s them.

I just had to say something after I read some responses to Nov. 20 article “All Revved Up,” putting them down and thinking they are doing everything for money and fame.

If they wanted money, they would not have canceled their tour last summer to fight with Ticketmaster so their fans could pay less for concert tickets. They could have easily gone on tour, made a lot of money and not have looked like bad guys, because they would just be going along with the system like other bands.

If there is anyone to look up to in this corrupt and greedy society, it’s Pearl Jam.
