Council Appointment
Once again Councilperson Elois Zeanah talks out of both sides of her mouth. Before the Thousand Oaks council election Zeanah was quoted as saying she would support the appointment of the fourth-place vote-getter as long as they were not an incumbent. Immediately after the election, Zeanah was again quoted in favor of this position in order to “mend fences and start off in a positive mood,” which would save both the $100,000 cost of a special election and give the City Council and Planning Commission five members immediately. Now she is quoted indicating we should have a special election.
Everyone I have talked to concerning this issue feels that Mike Markey’s appointment would be in the best interests of our city and allow us to move ahead. Having a four-member council will effectively hamper many important issues that are coming before the council. Many residents are sick of the political duplicity of our officials. Councilwoman Zeanah, if you supported the concept, don’t do an about face and foster more dissent and hard feelings.
