BUENA PARK : She Wanted a Toy Car and Gets a Joy Ride
The simple Christmas wish of a 4-year-old girl with leukemia--a toy Barbie car--is about to be granted in an unexpected way.
Mireya Garcia is this year’s winner of a $1,000 shopping spree at Toys R Us, thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Orange County.
At 6:15 a.m. today, Mireya will be surprised by a limousine at her front door that will take her to the Huntington Beach toy store. “Her original wish was for a Barbie car, so one of the other wish coordinators and myself decided we were going to embellish the wish,” said Lyn Shermet, the foundation’s wish granter.
Mireya was discharged Thursday from Children’s Hospital of Orange County where she was undergoing chemotherapy, Shermet said.
