Nation IN BRIEF : WASHINGTON, D.C. : Whitewater Hearings Unneeded, Poll Says

A majority of Americans believe Congress should not hold hearings on the Whitewater affair, according to a public opinion poll by CNN/USA Today Gallup. The poll found that 56% of respondents opposed hearings, while only 41% favored them. Despite this, a plurality of respondents believed that President Clinton probably behaved unethically, but not illegally, in the affair.
