Salary Cap an Idea Whose Time Has Come?
I would think that the baseball players’ union would recognize by this point that ample precedent has been set for the owners’ institution of a salary cap. Didn’t Congress recently cap executive salaries by removing the deductibility of everything above $1 million?
I would think that the players, many of whom are above that threshold already, could bend to the reality of the world around them--particularly when they recognize that those executives are accountable for advancing the interests of employees and shareholders, not merely for playing a child’s game into adulthood.
