SIMI VALLEY : Single Suspect Sought in 2 Holdups

Simi Valley police are searching for a man who they believe was responsible for two robberies that occurred within an hour of each other Tuesday, authorities said.

The first robbery occurred about 1:40 p.m. at the Mail Depot store, 2760 Tapo Canyon Road. The robber, armed with a handgun, escaped with an undetermined amount of cash, police said.

The second robbery took place shortly after 2 p.m. at Popeye’s Famous Fried Chicken & Biscuits restaurant, 1883 Erringer Road.

“It’s the same description, the same method of operation, and it happened about the same time,” Sgt. Mike King said. He added that police believe the same person was responsible for both crimes but had no suspects.

Police chased one suspect after the first robbery but determined he was not involved in the crime.

No shots were fired and no one was injured in either robbery, police said.
