Two first-year students at San Fernando Valley colleges have been awarded scholarships by TransWorld Bank to help them pursue careers in teaching.

Steve Martinez of Van Nuys, who is attending Valley College, and Clarisse Escobar from Thousand Oaks, who goes to Pierce College, will both receive $250 per semester for a maximum of four semesters from TransWorld’s 1994 Future Teacher Scholarship program, according to the bank.

Both students must maintain at least a 3.0 grade-point average to continue receiving the scholarship money.
