U.S. Farm Prices Rise 2.3%: Higher corn exports and rebounding hog markets pushed prices up in December, the government said. Farmers earned more for their hogs, corn and lettuce but less for milk, lemons, turkeys and hay, the U.S. Agriculture Department said. Compared to December, 1993, however, farm prices were down 6.2%. “The salvation for the farmer this year, if there is one, is the record crops of soybeans, corn, rice, cotton and apples,” said Bob Milton, a USDA economist who compiles the report.
