SYLMAR : Help Sought in Hunt for Missing Man, 44

Share

The Tierra del Sol Foundation is seeking the public’s help in a search for a 44-year-old developmentally disabled man who has been missing from his group home and workplace since Dec. 23.

Rick Funk left the Fenton House Group Home in Sylmar that morning and has not been seen since, said Steve Miller, the foundation’s executive director.

“He is mildly retarded, mostly has very little speech, but looks very normal, maybe a little young for his age,” Miller said.

Funk also is well-acquainted with the public bus system and therefore may be anywhere, Miller said.

He added that he is concerned that Funk possibly went to his workplace Dec. 23, found that no one was there because it was a holiday and just hopped on a bus.

According to a flyer circulated by Tierra del Sol, Funk also likes to go to shopping malls.

Miller asked that if anyone sees Funk, they should try to keep an eye on the man and call one of two 24-hour hot lines for the group home: (818) 365-6162, or (818) 891-9020.
