The Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s department of music programs has won an award for its contemporary music programming.

The Adventuresome Programming of Contemporary Music Award, given by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers and Chamber Music America, recognizes chamber music ensembles and presenters who demonstrate an adventuresome spirit in programming music composed since 1950.

“There are so many ‘labors of love’ in the field of chamber music presentation that it is especially gratifying when singularly honored by one’s peers,” said Dorrance Stalvey, director of music programs at the museum.

ASCAP sponsors the award in recognition of the growth of the chamber music field, which museum spokeswoman Sarah Gallop said “is a tribute both to the efforts of Chamber Music America and the dedication of the performers, composers and presenters working and creating contemporary chamber music.”

Chamber Music America is a national organization that promotes professional chamber music.
