The upcoming debut album from rapper Nate Dogg on Death Row Records is expected to include a reunion of the early Long Beach trio 213, which featured Nate and his high school pals Snoop Doggy Dogg and Warren G. A full 213 album could follow. . . .

Also coming from Death Row: The Snoop-associated duo Tha Dogg Pound has a debut album due in March or April, as does Jewel, who provided the prominent female vocals on both Snoop’s and Dr. Dre’s albums and whose debut single, “Woman to Woman,” is currently rising up the charts. . . .

Meanwhile, Warren G is busy producing an album by another set of Long Beach rappers, the Twinz. Warren’s half brother Dr. Dre is also helping out on some of the tracks. . . .

The Who will get a star on Hollywood Boulevard’s Walk of Fame on Feb. 7. Surviving band members Pete Townshend, Roger Daltrey and John Entwistle are all expected to be on hand for the event, which is tied to the CD release of an expanded version of their “Live at Leeds” album. . . .

After nearly 20 years as a manager with only one client, Bruce Springsteen, Jon Landau has taken on a second artist: Natalie Merchant. The former 10,000 Maniacs singer is working on a debut solo album, due later this year. . . .

Rick Rubin’s latest signing: Donovan. Mr. Mellow Yellow is currently recording in L.A. with Rubin (he was spotted at the recent show by Johnny Cash, another classic Rubin artist) and will preview new material with intimate acoustic shows at LunaPark on three consecutive Thursdays, beginning this week. . . .

It was inevitable: The band Live is releasing a live album. In an unusual twist, it won’t be sold in stores, but instead will be sent to people who order it via the Internet. Radioactive Records will be setting up its own Internet address for e-mail requests for the album, with details to be announced soon. There’s some talk of making it free, with Radioactive only charging fans for shipping and handling. . . .

The band is also scheduled to tape an “MTV Unplugged” next month. . . . Young Texas guitar hero Charlie Sexton returns with his new band, the Charlie Sexton Sextet, on March 28 with a new album titled “Under the Wishing Tree.” Joining him in the band are two former members of the BoDeans, Michael Ramos and Raphael Gayol. . . . R&B; singer Pebbles, who took a few years off from her performing career to manage TLC, is back with her third album, due April 11. The new material is said to move away from her sassy past efforts into a smoother soul territory.*
