Trade, the Peso and 1995: A prominent California economist will speak Thursday on the outlook for California in 1995, particularly addressing state business opportunities created the new World Trade Organization (formed by the recently signed General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade) as well as the first year of the North American Free Trade Agreement. Gary Schlossberg, a vice president and senior domestic economist at Wells Fargo Bank who regularly assesses economic conditions in the state, national and international marketplace, will also discuss the implications of the dramatic recent devaluation of Mexico’s peso. The luncheon, held by the Foreign Trade Assn. of Southern California with the California Taiwan Trade & Investment Council, starts at noon at the Intercontinental Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles.
