Goodyear Inflating Tire Prices: Akron, Ohio-based Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. said it will raise the prices on replacement-market tires as much as 5% on some lines. Higher costs for raw materials are behind the increases, which take effect Feb. 15, Goodyear said. Goodyear’s Kelly-Springfield brand also said it will increase prices, effective March 1. Prices on all of Goodyear’s auto and light-truck replacement tires will go up 3%. Increases on commercial trucking and tractor tires will vary, the company said. Goodyear’s off-road tires and retread materials will not be affected. Kelly-Springfield plans to increase prices 3% on its passenger and light-truck tires and on some farm tires. Prices on other farm and truck tires will increase 4.5%, a company spokesman said.
