Valk Strains Ligament in His Knee, Might Have to Miss First Two Games

Mighty Duck Coach Ron Wilson says his players “look like they’ve hardly missed a beat” because of the lockout, but his real concern going into Friday’s season-opener at Edmonton is their health.

Garry Valk, the team’s third-leading scorer last season, is doubtful for the first two games after being diagnosed Monday with a strained medial collateral ligament in his left knee. He was hurt Sunday and underwent an MRI test Monday.

Also, forwards Todd Ewen and Anatoli Semenov sat out Monday because of bad colds and Stephan Lebeau twisted his ankle but is expected to practice today or Wednesday.
