Nation IN BRIEF : ILLINOIS : Boy, 10, Ruled Unfit for Murder Trial
One of two boys accused of dropping a 5-year-old out of a window to his death isn’t fit to stand trial because of his low IQ, a Chicago judge ruled. Judge Carol Kelly issued her ruling after the 10-year-old was examined by a psychiatrist. Kelly granted prosecutors permission to get a second opinion on the boy’s mental fitness and scheduled a final status hearing for Feb. 23. The second boy, who is 11, was declared fit for trial. The two are accused of dropping Eric Morse 14 stories after he refused to steal candy for them.
