DEC Posts First Profitable Quarter Since July, ‘93: The earnings report follows two years of cost cutting by the Maynard, Mass., computer maker. Digital Equipment Corp. reported net income of $18.9 million, or 7 cents per share, for the three months ended Dec. 31, contrasted with a loss of $72.1 million, or 53 cents per share, in the same period of 1993.
