CARGO LOADING: The San Diego Chargers are heading for the Super Bowl, and the city’s top alternative rock label may also be on its way to the big time. Cargo Records--which launched the touted Rocket From the Crypt--and giant Atlantic Records will be testing the waters on a possible distribution deal, starting with upcoming albums from the bands Smile and Fluf. If a full deal is worked out, it would give Atlantic solid Southern California underground access along the lines of arrangements it already has with New York’s Matador and Mammoth labels.
