James A. Jeffery of Ventura has died at the age of 39, leaving behind a wife, a toddler, and a 3-week-old infant.
A self-employed electrician, Jeffery was electrocuted Jan. 26 while working on a project in Oxnard, his father-in-law, Gerald White, said.
Jeffery came to Ventura about five years ago from South Dakota, leaving for California on the promise of a job, White said. He enjoyed sailing and owned his own boat for a few years, though he sold it a year or two ago, White said.
“He was kind, gentle, generous. He was a great guy,” White said.
Jeffery is survived by his wife, Crystal, and their two daughters, McKenzie, 3, and infant Carlie; his parents, Jim and Muriel Jeffery of Fruitdale, S.D.; a sister, Wanda Demos of Belle Fourche, S.D.; and a brother, George Jeffrey, of Missoula, Mont.
Services will be held today. The Ted Mayr Funeral Home can be contacted for details.
