The Rams will talk today to Barry Alvarez, Wisconsin head coach, about the team’s vacant head coaching position.

Steve Ortmayer, Ram vice president of football operations, said he has interviewed Oregon Coach Rich Brooks and San Francisco defensive coordinator Ray Rhodes and will continue to interview other candidates.

Ortmayer also said the team has decided to hire Johnny Roland, a former player for the St. Louis Cardinals and running backs coach for the New York Jets last season, in some capacity.

“Roland is a natural for the city of St. Louis. We don’t know what position he will fill, but we are committed to hiring him,” Ortmayer said.
