FHP International Corp.: The Fountain Valley diversified health care company reported that profit for its second fiscal quarter doubled from the same period a year earlier. Earnings came to $21.3 million, or 36 cents a share, up from $10.3 million, or 31 cents a share.

Revenue for the quarter ended Dec. 31 increased 61% to $954.4 million from $591.1 million. The 1994 quarter included results from a recent acquisition.

For the first half, profit rose 95% to $42 million, or 73 cents a share, from $21.5 million, or 64 cents a share. Six-month revenue was up 58% to $1.9 billion from $1.2 billion.
