Microsemi Corp.: The Santa Ana semiconductor company reported that its first-quarter profit rose to $1 million, or 13 cents a share, from $531,000, or seven cents a share, for the same period a year earlier. Sales for the three months ended Jan. 1 were up 3% to $27.7 million from $26.9 million.
