Got Leftover Yarn to Donate

Share

Have any extra yarn or an afghan that no longer coordinates with your decor? The Warm Up America program will be happy to take them off your hands.

Coordinated locally by Arts N Crafts N Things in the Orange Mall, the Warm Up America program was started in Wisconsin by the owner of a knitting shop. The premise is simple: Nobody should be cold when there are plenty of knitters and yarn available to make afghans.

According to Teri November, one of the owners of Arts N Crafts N Things, since the project began at the Orange store two years ago, more than 100 afghans have been donated to the Project Hope program of the Orange YWCA. Project Hope is a program dedicated to helping the homeless.

How can you help? If you’d like to donate leftover yarn, an afghan or afghan squares, drop them by the store. Or, if you’d prefer to piece the squares together into an afghan, the staff at the store will be happy to have you help.
