HYDE PARK : Library Implements Computer System
The Hyde Park Branch Library at 6527 Crenshaw Blvd. is now using a new computer information system that promises to streamline operations.
The system, dubbed CARL, includes card cataloguing, book inventory and cross-referencing of materials at other branches of the Los Angeles Public Library, said senior librarian Arthur Pond.
To check out materials, patrons must obtain and use plastic library cards, which can be issued immediately to applicants at the branch.
Hyde Park is among 40 branches of the citywide system offering CARL, an acronym for Colorado Alliance of Research Libraries.
The Hyde Park Branch library is open 12:30 to 8 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays ; 12:30 to 5:30 Wednesdays and Thursdays, and 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
