A Taco Surprise: Taco Bell Corp. Chairman John Martin will unveil the restaurant chain’s newest fast-food concept during an 11 a.m. news conference Wednesday in New York. Irvine-based Taco Bell has declined to comment on speculation that Martin will announce a new, healthier menu that’s lower in fat than the company’s current Mexican-style offerings. Taco Bell first hinted at a “revolutionary” change in the way it does business during commercials that ran during the Super Bowl. It promises that the new concept will be as important as the value-oriented menu Taco Bell adopted during the late 1980s, a move that forced the entire fast-food industry to follow suit.
