Insights on U.S.-Japan Ties: The shaky state of U.S.-Japan trade relations will be the topic of a talk by Japan’s consul general, Seiichiro Noboru, at USC at 4 p.m. Wednesday. Noboru, who was appointed to his Los Angeles post a year ago, will also talk about cooperative efforts between the United States and Japan in international activities. Noboru’s insights into trade come in part from his tenure as an economic minister at the Japanese Embassy in Washington and his role in the recently completed Uruguay round of world trade talks under the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade. The talk, which is being sponsored by USC’s East Asian Studies Center, will be held in the IBEAR conference room of USC’s Accounting Building. Admission is free.
