Fire Captain Is Not a Hero
Re: Feb. 1 article “Fire Captain ‘Hero’ Released on Bond.”
I find it simply unconscionable to read that my tax dollars are being spent on salaries of firefighters who believe that a veteran Ventura County fire captain--indicted for sales, possession and being under the influence of methamphetamine--is a hero.
Thank you, Capt. Handy, for saving the 9-year-old boy from drowning. However, let’s keep in mind that you helped destroy other people’s lives by supplying them with drugs. And a message to the seven firefighters who supported Handy: Since when did being a hero allow somebody to sell drugs and keep bombs underneath the bed?
