FULLERTON : Police Plan Checks on Child Restraints

Share

Police will conduct a child safety restraint checkpoint sometime this week as part of National Child Safety Week.

The checkpoint will take place on a major thoroughfare from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Police declined to name the day or the location of the checkpoint. Vehicles passing through the checkpoint will be monitored for violations of state seat belt and child safety restraint laws, city officials said.

State law requires drivers and all passengers to wear seat belts. Children younger than 5 who weigh less than 40 pounds must be restrained in an approved child seat.

Fullerton police issued 90 citations when officers had their first child safety car seat checkpoint last November.
