Floyd B. Schultz; 35-Year Navy Veteran

Floyd B. Schultz of Camarillo, a retired Navy rear admiral who lived through the attack on Pearl Harbor, has died. He was 84.

A native of Bay City, Mich., Schultz graduated from the U. S. Naval Academy in 1932, beginning a 35-year career in the military. During World War II, he served as a construction officer, receiving a medal for his work supervising battle damage repairs. He was on active duty in Pearl Harbor when the Japanese attacked Dec. 7, 1941.

He received numerous awards and commendations throughout his career, including a Secretary of Navy Commendation Ribbon and two Legion of Merit medals. He retired from the Navy in 1967 and worked for Ingalls Shipbuilding Co. in Mississippi.

In addition to his degree from the U. S. Naval Academy, Schultz held a master’s degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and attended Harvard’s Graduate School of Business.

Schultz is survived by two daughters, Helen S. Faul and Priscilla S. Carroll, both of Camarillo, and three grandchildren.

Services are 4 p.m. Friday at the Camarillo United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society or the Camarillo United Methodist Church. Pierce Brothers Griffin Mortuary in Camarillo is handling the arrangements.
