VAIL, Colo. — Voters here have rejected another proposal to build the town’s first cemetery.
Proponents of the burial ground had argued a cemetery would make Vail a real town, not just a winter playground for the wealthy. About 3,700 people live in the condo-crowded valley year-round.
Opponents had said the cemetery would gobble up open space, and only the rich and famous could afford to buy burial plots. Tuesday’s 378-308 decision follows a similar defeat in November, 1993.
