CAMARILLO : Owner of Business Agrees to Settlement

Share

The owner of a now-defunct Camarillo and Nyeland Acres heating and air-conditioning service agreed to pay $16,000 in restitution to customers and civil penalties in response to a suit alleging unlawful business practices.

John Mills Industries, which did business as George Brazil 24-Hour Service, did not admit wrongdoing in agreeing to the settlement.

The Ventura County district attorney’s office filed the civil lawsuit in January, 1994, alleging the company made unnecessary repairs and charged “unconscionably high prices,” Deputy Dist. Atty. Michael D. Schwartz said.

The complaint also alleged the company’s advertisements were misleading because it made it appear the firm had several offices in Ventura County.

Owner John Mills declined comment.
