Screaming Woman, Tot Foil Attempted Russia Hijacking
Two Russian teen-agers hijacked a bus Thursday and demanded to be flown to the Middle East, but police seized the pair after they were distracted by a screaming woman and her ailing baby, the Itar-Tass news agency said.
The two boys, ages 15 and 16, commandeered the bus near Ufa, the capital of the republic of Bashkortostan, drove to the local airport and demanded to be flown to Israel or Syria.
The teen-agers asked for guns and fuel at the airport and threatened to blow up the bus with explosives if their demands were not met.
