Carrier to Drop Taipei-Seoul Link: Northwest Airlines will stop flying between the capitals of Taiwan and South Korea in April because far fewer tourists have used the route since the two countries severed diplomatic ties in 1992. The Taipei-Seoul connection is Northwest’s only daily flight between the two countries. The Minnesota-based carrier will still fly from Taipei to Tokyo and the United States. The Taiwanese government began urging a travel boycott of South Korea after Seoul switched diplomatic recognition to China.
