Medi-Physics Discontinues Syncor Distribution Deal
Syncor International Corp., the Chatsworth operator of nuclear pharmacy services, said as of Jan. 16 it has stopped distributing products for the British health-care company Medi-Physics Inc. because Medi-Physics has found another distributor.
Syncor earned about $2.4 million in operating income from selling Medi-Physics products in 1994. The company said it expects to make up the loss of business by substituting other products at its 117 pharmacy service centers.
Syncor also said it has renegotiated a key agreement struck last year with pharmaceutical giant DuPont Merck Pharmaceutical Co. Syncor, which is the main U.S. distributor of DuPont Merck’s radiopharmaceutical products, said DuPont Merck has agreed to price changes to better compensate Syncor for its risks.
In other news, Syncor recently began distributing a newly approved DuPont Merck product called Neurolite. Neurolite is used in testing patients for stroke risk, according to a Syncor spokeswoman.
