TUSTIN : District Appoints New Mentor Teachers

Share

The Tustin Unified School District has appointed nine more teachers to this year’s mentor teacher program. They join 15 others who were chosen last fall.

They are selected for their experience, mastery of the subjects they teach and teaching skill.

The mentors will be assigned to special projects, officials said. Some will supervise math programs, and others will handle grant writing, technology improvement and leadership development.

In addition to their regular pay, they will receive about $4,300 each from a state grant.

The mentor teacher program rewards teachers with new, effective teaching techniques, and encourages teachers to work together, officials said. Mentors are often paired with new and inexperienced teachers.

The new mentors are Wendy Adams, Karen Akashi, Leilani Alamillo, Debbie Dowler, Joan Kasper, Patricia Lee, Linda Smith, Cela Varosy and Cindy Wright.
