Share

A fire in an apartment building Tuesday left 17 people homeless, caused $20,000 in damage and injured three people.

The fire began at noon in a garage in the 2000 block of South Mountain View Avenue and quickly spread to an apartment directly above it, Battalion Chief Benny Ramirez said.

Smoke damage rendered two apartments uninhabitable, displacing two large families.

Two firefighters suffered minor injuries. One occupant, Juan Martinez, suffered burns to the face and hand and was treated at Western Medical Center-Anaheim, Ramirez said.
