Bass Biting Well, Especially at Casitas

When the bass rise from the depths, as they have been at most Southland reservoirs in the past week, it means the season has unofficially begun.
And it began with a bang at Lake Casitas.
The Ventura County reservoir has been pumping out trophy-sized fish all week. “They’re definitely on the chew,” said Ojai’s John Shull, who caught several in the 10-pound class.
The largest of the week, a 14 3/4-pound lunker, was caught by Jim Mason of Oak View.
