BRIEFLY : Art: Museum Acquires Donation of African Work
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art has received a donation of 37 pieces of traditional African art including carved ivories, masks, headdresses and wooden sculptures.
The artworks, scheduled to go on display in April, were donated by Los Angeles residents Lee and Robert Bronson, brothers who have been collecting African art for two decades. The donors, retired owners of a sportswear company, say that in the county museum, the works are certain to be exposed to a diverse viewing public.
“The museum’s attraction of every ethnic population (in Los Angeles) is just the best,” said Lee Bronson, who added that he and his brother plan to give artwork to the museum on an annual basis.
