WOMEN’S BASKETBALL : USC Rallies Past California

Tina Thompson scored 28 points and the USC women outscored California, 8-2, over the final two minutes to pull out an 87-82 Pacific 10 victory Saturday night at the Lyons Center.
Thompson made 14 of 21 shots and pulled down 20 rebounds for the Trojans.
Cal shot 54% and held an 80-79 lead with two minutes to play, seemingly primed for an upset.
Karleen Shields added 20 points for USC, which also got 12 points from Audrey Gomez and outrebounded Cal, 41-29.
USC hit only one of its five free throws. California was five for 11.
Eliza Sokolowska led all scorers and the Bears with 30 points.
