The city of Beverly Hills is marking the 70th anniversary of the New Yorker magazine in a monthlong celebration called “Beverly Hills Loves New York.”

The celebration, continuing through March 12, will feature a replica of the Statue of Liberty atop the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel, a parade on Rodeo Drive and a “Taxi Day” on Rodeo to honor the man dubbed New York City’s Best Taxi Driver, Jerry Tierstein.

It also includes an exhibit of 33 framed cartoons satirizing the New York-Hollywood rivalry, on display at Escada Boutique on Wilshire Boulevard.

One cartoon by Leo Cullum shows a New York businessman sitting at his desk, the Manhattan skyline behind him, as he hollers out to his co-workers: “I’ve got the L.A. office on the phone. . . . Anyone need avocados?”
