OJAI : Meeting to Focus on Flood Protection

Share

A group of Ojai and Oak View residents recovering from last month’s flooding will meet with state officials Tuesday in an effort to prevent future flood damage along San Antonio Creek.

Representatives from the state Office of Emergency Services will survey damage caused when creek waters overflowed onto several roads and properties in Ojai and Oak View.

Residents who suffered flood damage said the problems could have been minimized had the creek bottom been cleared of silt and had the banks been better secured.

“We hope that between the state, the Army Corps of Engineers or the county, someone can help us prevent this kind of damage from happening in the future,” said M. Lawrence Clevenson, spokesman for Concerned Citizens of Creek Road. “We’ll take help anywhere we can find it.”

The meeting will convene at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the parking lot of Dahl’s Market, 445 Ventura Ave., Oak View.
